Smithsonian Images

The Smithsonian specifically encourages the use, without charge, of these images by students, teachers, and schools.They are available for downloading and use in reports and class work, as well as on class-related student and school web sites. Credit must be given to the photographer and the Smithsonian Institution.

In addition, individual photographic prints in a variety of sizes are also available for purchase through this Photographic Services web site.

DK's free clip art site will help support class and homework activities with downloads of DK's famous photographs that can be included in your school projects. They can also be used just for fun!

See America through photograhers' eyes. Millions of photographs from the Life photo archive are online & free,stretching from the 1750s to today, chronicle the 20th century in a breathtaking series of frozen moments.Students can download images of the (last) Great Depression to their computer and, if they disagree with the original cropping, frame them in their own way and use them to illustrate a school report.

Pics4Learning

Pics4Learning is a copyright-friendly image library for teachers and students. The Pics4Learning collection consists of thousands of images that have been donated by students, teachers, and amateur photographers. Unlike many Internet sites, permission has been granted for teachers and students to use all of the images donated to the Pics4Learning collection.
